Below is a current list of volunteer needs at LHC. New and returning volunteers are always welcome!
Vacation Bible School Volunteers
Volunteers are needed throughout the week to help with many different tasks. The only experience needed is a love of Jesus and a desire to share with children about who Jesus is. To learn more, contact Darea Hastie.
Crew Tour Guides: Walking children in groups around to the different stations (schedule will be provided each day)
Imagination Station: Experiments and crafts that go along with the lesson of the day
Snack Assistants: Help to organize ingredients/items for snack each day, assist kids as needed as they come for snack.
Pre-K (ages 4-5) Craft Lead: All crafts are age-appropriate and provided for you. Assist children with crafts and connecting it to the Bible Point for the day.
Nursery: Children of VBS volunteers age 3 and under will be in this class. Snacks, crafts, music, and videos will be provided to give them a mini VBS experience.
Breakfast Crew: Serving breakfast each morning to our volunteers and their children before VBS starts.
Games: Help facilitate games for each group.
VBS Family Picnic (Friday July 19th): Help needed grilling hot dogs, putting out snack foods, and coolers of drinks.
Registration: Greet and assist attendees as they come in to get a tag each day. Help children get to their assigned groups.
Set Up (Day and evening hours available): Help to set up during the week prior to VBS.
Volunteer with Children
MOPS Childcare: Provide childcare for children age 5 and under while the moms’ group meets upstairs in Fellowship Hall. This is a paid position. Time commitment is two Mondays per month (September through June) from 9:15am-11:15am. Contact Darea Hastie
Preschool Substitute Teachers: Help in classes for ages 2-5 throughout the school year. This is a paid position. Experience working or volunteering with children is needed. Contact Lindsay Kaye, Preschool Director.
LHCyouth Leaders: Men and women are needed to help mentor LHC youth in 6th-12th grade. Must be 21 or over and have a heart for mentoring youth. Meetings are held on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm, and occasionally for special events. Contact Pastor Andy Hastie
LHCkids Volunteers: Substitute teachers are needed for all classes when regular teachers are sick. Additional volunteers are needed for the regular rotation in the Nursery, which cares for babies under age 2. Contact Darea Hastie
Assistant to Special Needs Ministry: Volunteers are needed to provide care to special needs children on Sunday mornings. A curriculum will be provided that includes reading, music, and activities. Time commitment is just one Sunday per month. Contact Darea Hastie
Other Volunteer Opportunities
Freezer Meals: LHC Deacons and Deaconesses deliver meals to people and families going through a difficult time, or in celebration of a new baby. Volunteers are needed to make freezer meals, which can be delivered by the Deaconesses at a later date. Worship Team Volunteers
Soundboard Technician: Training is available, must be willing to learn. Time commitment is one Sunday per month, as well as Wednesday evening practice. Contact Michael Hoddy, Interim Pastor of Worship Arts, at 973-377-2255 x125 or email@example.com
Musicians: Singers, drummers and guitarists are needed for Sunday morning worship. Must have experience singing or playing in a group.
